Captury Sync V2 (preliminary)

The Captury Sync V2 is a versatile tool for synchronizing all manners of third party hardware. There are effectively two functions that can be performed with the box:

  1. a recording trigger can be distributed (received from an input pin or the PC and forwarded to other pins and the PC).
  2. The clocks of external devices can be synchronized using different signals on physical pins: GenLock, LTC, (PTP planned), and to CapturyLive via USB.

The box can be powered by USB or by Power over Ethernet.

Up to three output signals and three input signals can be configured, for example

  • Output: High, GenLock at 1000Hz, and GenLock at 50Hz
  • Input: LTC and Start and Stop trigger on different channels

GenLock signals can be output at up to 10kHz.

All signals and triggers are hardware synchronized.

Only integer frequencies are supported for both input and output.

Trigger

Three signal types are supported as triggers: Start, Stop, and High.

  • Start triggers recording.
  • Stop triggers stopping a recording.
  • High triggers recording on a rising edge and stop recording on a falling edge.

Trigger and GenLock signals can be inverted as well.

All three signals can be configured as input and/or output.

Clock

The internal clock of the sync box can be synchronized to external clocks.

The clock can be synchronized

  • to the computer clock via USB,
  • to a GenLock signal with an integer frequency (phase only),
  • to an LTC signal

We are planning to add support for PTP and LTC output as well.

Physical Connectors

  • 1 ethernet port with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support
  • 5 BNC connectors for arbitrary input and output configuration
  • 1 3.5mm audio jack, for LTC input
  • 1 Micro-USB port for power and control
